if DOT placed waring / compliance signs much more often, that may work too…. C22…

If they'd allowed Robert Moses to make it a straight road instead of meandering around the properties of a bunch of tree-hugging cry babies, there would be less accidents.?
if people didn't drive like lunatics on there & the Belt there'd be less accidents........................

I notice a lot more crappy drivers doing 40mph in the middle and left lanes. I think it’s time everyone goes through drivers education again. The left lane used to mean something in this country.
you notice just how maniacal NY drivers are once you live outside of the state for a few years - I probably drove the same way - but coming in to my brother's house now via the Belt & SSP scares the shit out of me
50 MPH two feet off of the driver in front of you, wizzing in & out of lanes to get 5 feet of the guy ahead of you - it's incredible
I see people coming down here with tri-state plates & it appears that the speed limit is just a suggestion. The police have a field day.

it’s worse in Fort lauderdale/ Miami, speed limit 70mph on a LIE style road.. 95 & 75… crashes everyday news… minimal police monitoring… cellie…
there's town down here called Exmore (named after it being the 10th stop on the railroad) that is a notorious speed trap - locals know about but anyone not from the Shore....
So about 3 years ago I was headed somewhere that would take me through there. About 2 or 3 miles outside of Exmore I get passed by a dozen or so high end cars (one or two Mercedes, couple of Audis, one Corvette, at least one or two Acuras & a Lexus or two thrown in - you get the idea) all with NY plates on them. Speed limit is 55 until you hit Exmore then it drops to 45. They blew past me having to be moving at +70mph. Thought - this is gonna be a slaughter.
Someone must have radioed ahead & they were waiting for them. I crossed the Emore town limits & eveyone of 'em where pulled over by at least 10 Police cars & being issued summons.
Laughed my ass off.............

Oh good. Another revenue grab in the name of "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Just going to punish hard working commuter's wallets and do absolutely zip about the fart can wannabe racers and the self-important BMW "I'm too important to merge anywhere but at the end of the ramp" inverted porcupine crowd.
They can't drive people out of this state fast enough, can they?

All in the name of safety.......hmmm.
These speed cameras and bus lanes and bike lanes have slowed daytime traffic to a crawl.
Add in maintenance which should logically be done overnight but is somehow done during rush hour.....driving has become a nightmare!

in manhattan last week, painting the CROSSTOWN BUS LANES during daytime weekday hours shows the stupidity of DOT… cellie…
.
The only time I'll drive into Manhattan is on a Sunday. No meters. No contractors.
The powers that be obviously envision a city without any vehicles in it and are doing their best to make driving in difficult.
I'll use mass transit most of the time but unfortunately, taking mass transit is not an option when bringing an elderly parent in for doctor appointment.
