My wife says it was my fault?

So I get to the dentist office today and I had to use the bathroom. I grab the key and walk out to the bathroom as the door was shutting I realized someone was pushing on it to get in. I pull that door open and asked the guy if he had a key. Well that was a huge mistake as the guy shoved the door open almost knocking me on the floor and he proceeded to threaten me, I should add he was in his late 30s early 40s and he was big. And I'm a 68 year old cancer and stroke survivor. I didn't have much of a chance. I did have to laugh though when he asked me if I was the "bathroom police"

I stayed in there did my thing while he yelled at me the entire time. He was so loud that when I got back into the office my wife asked if I heard "that guy yelling"

My wife says I should never have asked for the key.

Any opinions?

Move away from places where you're frequently faced with Jamokes like that...

I often "share" your pain on that, but on macro, long-term level, it may be time to reconsider things. It seems that the population's moral compass everywhere has gone down the crapper, more so in the NY metro area. There's no longer any concern for others, it's all "ME, ME, ME".

Events like this would give me pause as to where I would want to reside...

In reference to your question, it's always our fault...

Sounds like road rage but at the bathroom level.
Nothing surprises me anymore, sorry you had to endure that clown.

He pushed the door open, which knocked me to the floor and came in yelling at me. Honestly, I was worried about the jaw surgery I went through recently. An effect from my cancer treatment. I could have bought two of those 350 Honda engines with what this is costing me. Insurance doesn't cover side effects of my radiation treatment.

I love Long Island and my neighborhood. But like many places, its changing and not in a good way.

Sounds like there may be a mental health office located in the same building.

I hear you on that. Eastern North Fork started out on the retirement spot short list, but one quick visit after 20 years of being away firmly put LI on the NFW list, along with every Atlantic Coast state south of NH.

Any visits to the NY Metro area now just reinforce the wisdom of that decision...

The North Fork including Shelter island are still a paradise with that old town feel. I'd move there but I'd have to do it alone. Not enough local shopping centers ?
