HEARING... what...???

since living and working in the subway system in the city, I have been placing a half cotton ball in my ears every day for the past 25 years... Ear plugs would've been better than cotton balls, but still better than nothing...
Recently visiting the audiologists, she addressed the Tinnitus ( ringing in my ears ) and said my hearing is good for my age...

so with this in mind, I hear the maintenance man vacuuming the hallways carpet here in my 40 story high rise, 150 ' distance total / floor... For my own interest now, I grabbed my sound meter, walked out to the hallway, got a reading of nearly 80db which is in the danger zone for a certain time period, I wasnt surprised... But the ignorant part is the porter wasnt using any EAR protection, PLUGS, MUFFS, BUDS nor Cotton...

morale of story. Hearing is important... cellfish...

Yep , the one in the pic is mine, Amazon bought, not much $$$ less than $40 if I recall, it good,,, there are free APPS available, fairly accurate I was told by DEP…

Strange Coincidence , Greg Mocker on evening news just now, WPIX, did a health concern segment on NYC sound levels… he walk the subway & streets with a Audiologist, sound levels are bad, as high as 110 at times… maybe able to retrieve his story on line… cell…

Oh, why I “bought a meter” bc, across the street from me is a restaurant with rooftop fans… the noise was at a constant 57 db… it was uncomfortable… DEP came into my home several times noting violations and exceeding safe levels… eventually things were corrected but not 100%… oh well…
.
And I did get a kick, using it for Helicopter BS….

Let me know if I can bring it to the county for chain saw and leaf blower fun… cell…

LOL. I have a laser temp reader - good for checking if the heat registers in the house are colder or hotter than they should be. I bought one on Amazon and they sent me 3. (y)

Im sure it is, Im jealous!!, anywhere from the big cities are more civilized... one of the worst here are Ambulances... with the tall buildings in lower Manhattan, Ambulances really could be heard from a good distance away and extra special while stuck in the Holland Tunnel backup, LOLX2, and the drivers have sick requirements even at 3:00 AM...

not to bore ya JPD, i have a police precinct and the Ghost Busters Fire House, 2 blocks away... come visit, fancy waterfront here, Pier 26... cell...

When my Dad retired and moved back to R.I. He moved to Coventry. Beautiful and quiet, only sound was all the babbling brooks 👍

for $22.00 Amazon, i just felt like it….

i’ll be using it on the Ferry from Wall Street to 116 street Rockaways…

last week i pulled the young deckhand over and let him see in the cabin, forward of the rear engines the reading was 75 db… 80 db is dangerous levels for 8 hours…

this fellow sits himself in the rear for the one hour ride… 8 hours / day x 7 years… his wife ask. why is the TV so loud…. cell…
