Captain's Table - Bass Attack!

Today was the kind of day only a Striped Bass, or avid Striped Bass fisherman, could love. Plenty of east wind, hard running tide, and overcast downright chilly weather conditions.

So, I decided to tough it out and take the rather choppy ride out to the Gut for this morning’s flood tide. As soon as the tide started to gather speed, the Bass turned on big time. Almost all color combinations of my 3-way bucktail rigs produced a steady stream of fish for a solid 3 hours. By the time the “dust cleared” I had decked 15 Bass with a few undersized fish, several over slot brutes, and plenty in the sweet spot. Largest fish that I returned today was a healthy 35’ long and tipped the scale at 20# on the nose, just prior to a safe release. I must be getting a bit old, as that fish really whipped my butt!

Anyway, this was important intel for my upcoming Bass charters scheduled for later this week. Don’t forget, I still have one spot open on this Saturday’s trip and based upon the action I saw today, I am confident there will be plenty of fish finding the box on 6/21.
