What was your short to keeper ratio? How many feet of water were you fishing in.
Which tide was best?

Opening day - 4 guys, 18 shorts, 1 keeper, 5-15' water. OUTGOING water only, the incoming tide pushed temps down from 58* to 50* and bite shut down immedistely... leaving now, report to follow...

My BIL and I fished opening day on Sunday but did not dedicate the trip to fluke. Usually I have a few trips under my belt by 5/4, but this year had its challenges. This was more of a shakedown trip and really wanted to bend the rod a bit so the bluefish assisted with that request.

I tried a few quick fluke drops in different areas I do not normally fish and some of my memory spots. I had outgoing, at one point 63 degree water, and bait. Took a bunch of shorts and they were short, not even measurable.

Lost the last 2 days to weather and will not fish this weekend as I have my son's college graduation.

Once I check tides, I might fish Friday AM and then off to CT by 12 noon. Again, it will be a short trip.

Have a great season, and most importantly, stay safe! Saw some nonsense already from what few boats were out on Sunday!

My buddy canceled after I got bait/ice and i started prepping his boat. So I fished from his slip, caught 7 shorts &1 K in 30 minutes, all on outgoing tide. As always its a spearing bite early in season
