Captain's Table - Season Finale

I had hopes of posting at least one last Tog trip for the 2024 season. However, over the past 2 weeks the big fan never seemed to blow in the right direction or with a reasonable velocity to allow for a productive and enjoyable day’s fishing.

So yesterday I went out to the marina to clean out the crab carts, do the “Free Willy” thing with my leftover bait, and pull all the gear off the boat preparing for winter storage. Always a somewhat sad time as she looks so lonely in her slip right now, but I do have tons to be thankful for.

Most importantly, I have a terrific group of customers, both new and old, who contributed to some outstanding catches while making this year my busiest ever. The boat ran great with only a few of the minor hiccups that we all experience throughout the course of a long season. And, with the addition of a mate to help me on many trips this year I was quite kind to my body which certainly needs a little extra help from time to time.

Once again, I greatly appreciate the generosity and angling skills of all who sailed with me in 2024 and look forward to some down time, a lot of tackle maintenance, and the upcoming winter and spring outdoor shows to keep the “fishing fire” burning strong!

Have a safe and wonderful Holiday season. I look forward to seeing all who attend the Ward Melville show early next March where we can revel in some of our prior experiences and plan some new adventures. Fari winds, following seas, and tight lines to all.

Capt. Mike

Tolerating some customers is such a tough way to describe what I do.😉

I prefer to think of myself as having a "boatload" of patience!!!🤣

I'm glad to hear you had a great time, Steve. In a season where most offshore Fluke trips were very challenging you were fortunate to be on what wound up being our best effort for 2024, one fish shy of a boat limit up to 8#. Plus, as I recall, the Tog trip was pretty good as well.🙂

Enjoy the holidays and see you soon.
