Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: August 3, 2026

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to noreaster.com websites, community features, contributor tools, and connected publishing services (the “Services”). noreaster.com is a Northeast fishing information and community platform operated by George Scocca and the noreaster.com team. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to privacy@noreaster.com.

2. Information we collect

3. How we use information

We do not use Meta data for surveillance, credit or eligibility decisions, or unrelated advertising profiles. We do not sell personal information or Meta Platform data. We do not transfer Meta data to data brokers.

4. When we share information

We share information only with service providers that help operate the Services—such as hosting, database, authentication, email, and security providers—under appropriate restrictions; with Meta if the optional integration launches and an authorized user directs a publication; when required by law; or as part of a business transaction with notice and appropriate safeguards. Public posts and profiles are visible according to their selected audience.

5. Meta permissions and user control

The Meta integration is not yet available or submitted for App Review. When offered, connecting it will be optional; Meta's authorization screen will identify requested permissions, and users will be able to choose eligible assets, disconnect, revoke access in Meta's Apps and Websites settings, or request deletion. noreaster.com will never ask for or store a user's Facebook password or post to personal timelines. Any access tokens received will be treated as confidential credentials, stored server-side with restricted access, and never exposed in public pages or client logs.

6. Data retention

We retain account and community data while an account is active and as needed to provide the Services. If the optional Meta feature launches, its access tokens and connected-asset identifiers will be deleted or disabled when the integration is disconnected, access is revoked, or they are no longer needed. Operational and security logs are retained only for a limited period appropriate to security and troubleshooting. We may retain limited records when required for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, or security purposes.

7. Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, server-side secret storage, least-privilege permissions, logging, and service-provider safeguards. No system is completely secure, but we investigate suspected unauthorized access and take appropriate corrective action.

8. Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, export, disconnection, or deletion of your personal information by following our data deletion instructions or emailing privacy@noreaster.com. We may verify your identity before acting. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing or to appeal a decision.

9. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.

10. International users

Our Services are operated from the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal grounds and safeguards for cross-border processing.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the Services change. We will post the revised date and provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
