NY would never do that. If you look carefully you notice NY doesn't spend a dime when reef material is added. Donated material, scrap material , donated labor. All they contribute is red tape.

Can't imagine how much asbestos was on the SS United States!

There's a process of "cleaning" all contaminants before these things are sunk. Just a matter of the individual states want to make the effort which apparently NY doesn't.

The Big U was cleansed of asbestos a long time ago.

How sad that this f-ing state is so crooked that they could never reach a deal to make her into a hotel like the Queen Mary. She's the greatest liner ever built, and deserves better. Especially considering all the stupid $#it our government wastes money on.

But I guess better a reef than rasor blades. It's still depressing.
