My brother is in from Florida, left the dock at 6 o’clock. With my nephew, brother, and myself in hopes of bass and fluke. Started fluke fishing east west channel slip gut everywhere. Moved to the channel and water was cleaner but wind was cranking dropped two fluke and moved to try bass fishing. Finally had a knock down and handed the rod to my nephew, can tell by the fight wasn’t a bass after a battle a 12 lb bluefish hit the deck. Released to fight again, was hesitant of putting my shad rig down knocking they were around. Well second knock down was a screamer after a few cranks fish and shad rig gone felt the memo and was frayed. That was the end of trolling pulled my other shad rig and moved up the channel. Went back to fluke fishing and the amount of slip gut was ridiculous. Called it a day and was home at 10 o’clock

There was a lot of that stuff in the bay Friday.

I love Moriches when the water is gin clear for those magical couple of weeks. You can watch the fluke (and Robbins, lol) follow your bait before the strike and view the battle like you were fishing in Costa Rica.
