Your better off tying a steak to the end of your line. It's much cheaper!

We used to get squid in the supermarket sometimes because it was cheaper than the bait shop. Same might apply to clams.

Just a thought.

Squid is sky high there as well, but they had 5 pound bags of sardines , smelt for 5-6 dollars at Shop Rite last summer.

I'm thinking of getting a recreational clamming permit at Town Of Hempstead and use my clam rake on a slow day and get a bushel . A bushel of skimmers is 75-100 dollars. Trouble is the bay is mostly closed to clamming and the good areas get worked a lot.

Pangaroo.... here's a tip. Chowder clams work just as good and are much, much cheaper than skimmers.

They tried that in "Jaws", and it did not go well!
