Very strong commercial presence in VA and MD. They'll kill every last Bass because their fathers, fathers father said they could! We have it here. No pics but in the fall gill netters fish tight to the beach and do some pretty good damage.themselc3s

Well if the biomass and spawn was way off in the Potomac, now it is a disaster. They say millions of gallons of sewage have spilled into the river. March and April are prime months for spawing there .I hope it doesn't ruin their spawning season and kill a bunch of stripers.

Dead discards is a problem here too. I was drifting for fluke in the Long Island Sound. A Dragger pulls up and stops. I assumed he was cleaning fish. Next thing I know I see dead Striped bass floating by, dead Black Sea Bass. I assume the fluke go straight to the bottom.
I talked to a few Captains about dead discards. One Captain said: “It’s complicated.”
