New (for me) kayak cart

Did a lot of research but this cart practically fell into my lap when I was re-checking Amazon prices on two other carts I was interested in. Never heard of this company but with Amazon's still mostly generous free return policy, why not ? I bought my last surf rod that way, saved 30%, figuring that even if the packaging was minimal, and it came damaged, I could always take the mile long journey to a local Kohls to return it. Amazon may be the main way to buy this particular cart, which was $30 bucks cheaper than the $100. Kayak Cart KC-7 model I was about to order. My criteria demanded that the cart would fit in my Hurricane Skimmer 128's bow hatch which only has a circular, inside diameter of 9 and 5/8" and that it would not take an engineering degree to dissassemble and reassemble. There is only a little room fore and aft of the hatch as well. I will still use my Suspenz End cart at some put-in sites, but since I kayak alone, leaving my yak on yonder shore while walking 1/4 mile back to the truck to secure the "end cart" is simply being too trusting of the miscreants out there. The cart arrived in two days and with just a little bit of jiggling was able to get in and out of the hatch, albeit having to remove (everything is detent pins !) the two sturdy kickstands that mount on each wheel at the axle. Although the cart will never touch the briny, I figure I will occasionally lube all the detent pins I still of course have to put the yak on the cart and see how it "tows." There is very little truly "soft" sand where I launch so the wheels on this, while not balloons, should suffice, and balloon tires would never fit in the hatch unless the cart would completely come apart, something I just did not want to bother with. Will post updates as I test using it.

Hope it’s a really short trek in soft sand. Years ago I made these thinking the same thing. They all plow, high resistance, didn’t matter how wide. They would push whatever was in front while balloon flotation would roll over the top, and not all of them are equal either. I have one universal set and a beach set, both soft flotation tires. Would never dare use the universal set at beach unless I have a second hand to help pull.
These I use below.
The smaller set stinks in soft sand.
The C-Tug with Sandtrax wheels is probably the next best thing as a cradle and for sand although I’ve seen them converted to pneumatic too.
Wheels come off in seconds. Mine avg $300 each now. The C-Tug close to $200 with their sand wheels.
Just a month away now for giant blues just west of you if you have drywear.

I am a real, non-adventurous, getting towards elderly (lol) homebody and none of the four put-in sites I use have soft sand at all, and even the one that comes close would be just a 10 yard drag. Two of those sites don't even require a cart at all.

Think I launched off south shore beach once in ten years not counting Staten Island and Jersey. Pretty much the Sunken Meadow trip we do once a year is the heart attack. It’s 75 yds of ball bearing sand. A lot of the smaller beaches put that wheel chair carpet down to close to the water. I use that when I see it.

Got one of these for the kids kayak. They run around $1000 for this one on sale but will keep you on the water into your elderly years. Weighs 12 lbs total. He just wants to fish the same way I do and new Hobies now are $3000+. Scuba motor conversion.

Follow up on reviewing my new cart. I love it. It sits below and amidships so making a tight turn on the right angled kayak ramp the idiots in TOBAY made is doable. I forego the included ratchet strap and use a single bungie from one carry handle amidships, over the top of the kayak and hook the other end to one of the kickstands. Haven't gone to a launch site that necessitates me folding it all the way up and shoving it into the bow hatch, but being able to do so if needed is a plus.
