I had the Mike family out again yesterday for their second trip this summer, this time with their teenage sons. We began drifting some of the shallower rocky spots north of Plum for a steady diet of medium and occasionally larger Porgies. After the boys had their fill of the smaller fish, they wanted to give it a shot working the heavier tackle in the deep water for some quality Sea Bass.

So, I moved out to my favorite 100’ drop and as the ebb tide backed off the crew got treated to almost non-stop action with the biscuits. To be sure, with the current 16.5” minimum we did a lot of sorting but eventually 8 quality Sea Bass found the box. The family was thrilled to go home with a nice full bag of both Porgy and Sea Bass filet for their celebratory dinner! I have a feeling I will see them again next year!

We are now less than 8 weeks away from our Tog opener in NY and dates ae going fast. I will be posting some openings I have on split charter dates within the next several days so if you don’t have a full crew keep a close eye out for these opportunities. Also, there are a handful of dates still available for anyone with a full crew looking to cash in on our superior North Fork Tog fishery. The time to act is now!
