The Official NYS Saltwater License Survey!

As I've been telling you for the past few months, the official survey is out. I am going to personally hold off on filling it out as there are so many questions.

I am not a favorite of a license, but each angler needs to make their own decisions. Along with the fact that we already pay a fishing tax of 10% each and every time we buy any tackle, I just can't accept any of the money going to law enforcement.

Law enforcement is the task of the state, not ours, or at least that's how I feel about it. Now that it's out, and says basically what I knew it would,

There's much homework that needs to be done.

Keep your eye open for my new podcast I will be doing later today. In the meantime, here's the link:

The first of I'm sure, many new taxes to pay for migrants and helping former convicts obtain a legal marijuana license in NY.

That's the reality IMHO......

they will tow a dock, dislodged during Sandy, ram it on to a beach somewhere and say, "look at the new boat ramp!"

I submitted my thoughts. I won't change my mind and nothing the state will do will change it for me.

I'm against it. It's bad enough I have to pay for access to the beach to fish...Now you want me to pay to take natural resources that the State does nothing to protect. I've been fishing with a group of people and I was the one the DEC came up to - why? My guess is because I was the guy who had a permanent residence and looked like I could pay a fine. God thing I follow the regs.

What am I getting for the cost of a license - Nothing but less money in my wallet and more headaches

I am bumping this as I am surprised that there is so little interest in this thread. Apathy ? Suspicious ?

Here you go. Use a mere slice of this $1.5B and no fee needed.

School funds never get to schools. MTA funds never reach the subway.
Does the state really think its citizens trust that the funds collected by saltwater licenses will go where they're supposed to??

It's just creating another bucket for beurocrats to stick their beaks into for pet projects.

Harsher regulations, few public ramps and less beach access are proof that fishermen don't matter.

^^^ This.

I filled out the survey express about the same thing as everyone has stated. A free registry has been working for years. What is NY going to do with more money? Same as they do with the billions of dollars they're already taking in.

Me too, and filled out the wife's the same way. I feel the money will immediately go to repaying the city for its wonderful illegal alien policy. If a politician's (or state politico's) lips are moving, they are lying. The motto of my long ago favorite TV Show was "Trust No One." 'Nuff said.

I am against this scam for the reasons listed above. Additionally, the State doesn’t have the authority to require a license for the East End residents due to the Dongan Patent which guarantees us the RIGHT to fish here “ without let or hindrance “.

So I was part of the 56% who voted no, based solely on the fact that I do not, and will never, trust a politico in Newyorkistan. I would like to see increased access and increased enforcement but simply do not trust Albany. What I find really sad is that only 22,000 responded to the poll, out of nearly half a million who are on the fishing registry I can easily understand why many will not bother to vote for the two octogenarians in 2024 but to ignore their ability to comment and possibly influence the saltwater license? And I would be cost-free anyway.
