I think a lot of these tournaments have video running, either as a requirement, or personal use, or maybe, hopefully, just honesty was the factor. If any one person wants to tell a “fib,” so be it they can likely get away with it, but with a crew on board to witness they would be risking much more than the prize money, their good name would be trashed, and they would likely be banned from future tournaments.

I'm not familiar with tournament rules, but why would that be disqualified if indeed a shark attacked it previously?

Im guessing it wounded the fish and made it easier to catch/bring to the boat

Thats what i was thinking....

The tournament is following IGFA rules, and the captain & crew are expected to comply. I would Ass-ume that the IGFA came up with this particular rule for reasons mentioned above………. it’s easier to reel in a wounded fish.

I wasn't sure how wounded it was.
