VA Record Tog

Saw this posted on a TauTog group I belong to on Facebook. 21lb 10 oz (pending record) and a 19lber. After learning how slow they grow do we think it's time to place a slot on blackfish and possible get rid of the Spring fishery up here in NY? Do we really need a month opened, especially since it's their spawning season? Hopefully these fish don't become an issue in years to come.

I'm ok with a slot for Tog...16-22...something attainable. Anything bigger, take a picture and send them back.
Our spring season is a month, and its 2 fish, and usually its based on weather so changing NY Spring season is not doing anything.
A limit on the spring season down in VA is another story. I can't tell you how many dock pics I see of dozen of large female with their bellies full of babies laid out for photos...terrible. Maybe something like only one female during the spring season. Togs are easy enough to tell if they are male or female.
