HUDSON VALLEY, NY — On the weekend of March 18 and 19, New York State Environmental Conservation officers swept through Westchester, Putnam, Orange, and Rockland Counties doing recreational fishing enforcement checks, looking primarily for anglers taking out-of-season striped bass.
Between Saturday and Sunday, they issued 134 tickets.
The violations included possession of out-of-season fish, fishing without a valid license, unlawfully targeting out-of-season fish, using an improper hook while fishing for striped bass, and illegal possession of fish, DEC officials said

Maybe the fish are spawning early due to the mild winter., still inexcusable.

I like that they wrote tickets for targeted fish out of season, but I'm guessing it was an "add on" after busting them with the hard evidence...

I would like to see rods and reels and tackle bags leaning up against the truck as well. That bucket brigade will simply be out again next weekend.

Anyone else notice the bigger problem here?

Talk about short staffed. 5 officers patrolling Westchester, Putnam, Orange, and Rockland Counties. That's ALOT of ground for 5 guys to cover!

Not casting aspersions on the poachers of course, but do they always show up in court ? (Hence my desire to see confiscation.)

Don’t think they confiscated. Would have put it in the photo-op. Why not ? Politically “sensitive” is my guess. Now if they were “Swedish”…
