Hello All,

I hope to interview DEC on what changes in regs they may be considering. Is there anything in particular you would like me to ask? Please be polite as they don't necessarily have to do the interview, but they have always been respectful of this community and I hope we can do the same.

An example would be "are you considering to keep the tog split seasons and bags in place?

What is the next move, if any, on striped bass.

If you have anything you'd like answered please post it here.

I know many of you have questions, so feel free to pay them here.

Ask them if their position on Addendum 1 for Striped Bass Amendment 7. If they say anything other than Option A, rip them a second, third and fourth orifice for even considering moving Commercial Quotas from state to state, like people haggling in a 3rd World Bazaar!!!

Good!!! I want my position to be perfectly clear. I used that same verbiage in the letter I sent in to ASMFC, with the additional comment that they already approved Option A, like 4 years ago, and now that striped bass are in worse shape than back then, anything other than Option A clearly demonstrates that they have no regard for the resource!!!

On a different, more civilized tack, why not ask them IF there's any chance that enactment of a salt water license would put a significant amount of money back into DEC, and not that "General Fund" Black Hole?

P
Dominick
Every $ in NY goes into the General Fund.
Just look at the mess with the lottery. Dedicated fund to reduce out school taxes.
Yet the money ends up in the general fund

Yeah, BUT if they write into the legislation that "X% of sales must go into DEC Fund XYZ", that would be a start.

Of course, X would probably be 0.001%...

So should discussion of the license be allowed by the press office, I will ask where the money is earmarked.

Any other direct questions not related to the license? Let's try and use this opportunity by letting them know you have questions and interest in their role in the Marine district. I don't want us to look like those lunitics on Social Media apps.

OK, in the interest of PC, I humbly ask that you ask their sagacious position with the following ASMFC items.

  • Addendum 1 on Striped Bass Amendment 7 position, which option?

  • Position on possible cuts to Black Sea Bass and Porgies for 2023. How would they like retention/size limits be adjusted to address these?

Any consideration of a slot limit on fluke, similar to striped bass ?
