I go out to Captree a lot and I drive along Ocean Parkway to get there. I travel from Merrick. I love the DEC Ramp they have at Captree , but can I tow a boat on Ocean Parkway? I trailer my boat down the Meadowbrook Parkway to Point Lookout , but I've never seen somebody pulling a boat along Ocean Parkway going East. I don't think I ever saw a guy trailering his boat there ever. Is it legal to do , is the road horrible for trailers ? ( Very Bumpy in sections- up and down ) Thanks for any Info.

No trailers on parkways ..I would ask & see if you need a permit to do so..Or only a DOT permit holder can ?

I do know you can trailer the boat legally south of Sunrise exit on the Meadowbrook parkway over the loop parkway to get back and fourth to Lido Beach. You can also trailer the boat South of Sunrise Highway on the Robert Moses parkway to the Captree. Same with Heckscher State Parkway you can trailer the boat south of Sunrise to the park. IDK about Jones beach or Ocean Parkway.

I did see a large walkaround being towed eastbound from around
field 6 Saturday while I was coming back from surfcasting.

The Captree Ramp isn't too steep and it has grooves in the pavement for better traction. I wish they had a dock that went all the way to shore , I don't like that gangway they have with the railing , you gotta pull your boat out past that gangway to get onboard. The State Ramp in Freeport isn't steep either and has grooves in the pavement for better traction. I'm buying a new boat and I don't know if I can pull it out on a steep ramp, that's why I'm looking at Captree and Freeport to launch for the first time.

I towed my boat to Montauk several times per year. 8 always took ocean pkwy to captree and headed towards sunrise east. No Issues. This was about 10 years ago. Don't know the current situation. I always enjoyed that stretch of road before hitting the hellhole sunrise hwy east on a Friday afternoon....

I saw a double wheel pickup towing a Monster Trailer Home today on Ocean Parkway, that answered my question. I like the Captree Ramp, it's not steep like the Point Lookout Ramp. The ramp on Albany Ave. in Freeport is practically at sea level, hardly any slope and it has grooves in the pavement for good traction. Thanks for replies !
