A friend of mine said his dad's got some older fishing stuff he was looking to sell, I have no idea exactly what he has but could be interesting since they live in Hawaii. Is there a good way to offer a fair price, I know there's a million variables but I'd like both of use to be happy. Maybe lookup eBay sales to get a idea. There are rods to but unless it's something really special shipping would suck. A two piece my not be to bad to ship tho.

I shipped a one piece to NJ with UPS.. it cost as much as what I sold the rod for. So I actually lost money on it.
Anyone ship rods say under 8' I have a feeling there may be some nice rods but shipping maybe a arm and a leg.

Maybe donate.?I'm sure some of there friends will get some stuff, at east the things that can't sell. I mentioned some tackle shops used to do Consignments on some things, don't know if they do that over there or not. Like I said I'm not sure what he has or how much, I'm sure he will keep stuff he still uses or use the money to put to new gear.
he should have a list of stuff the next day or so.

I’m guessing he’s not local since you mentioned shipping. Like others said probably not worth it to have the rods shipped. I’d try to get some pictures of the reels. There are basically two types of people those who use their equipment to death with very little care and those who keep their gear meticulously clean & maintained. As far as value goes eBay is a great starting place.

A long rod tho I'm sure it would cost a bit. He has the scale and the printer for usps shipping so I think it's a little cheaper to.

Here's a clip from one of are messages from last night, looks like most are like surf rods. I'm hoping some reels are conventional, I'm looking for a nice reel for stripers and tog, bsb.
Dad still goes "small game" fishing stuff like mempachi, aweoweo....cant remember the english names for them
And whipping for Papio (any jack under 10lbs), and other surface predators.
The gear hes getting rid of are his heavy whipping rigs, surfcasters, and Ulua poles (jacks over 10lbs)/reals
