The kid running the boat has been charged in the death of his passenger who was just found a few minutes ago. The body of the missing man was recovered by Suffolk Marine Bureau.

He was running what looked like a 21 Parker and there were two other people on the boat that were slightly injured. Jack Benjamin was operating the boat in the Great South Bay when the vessel struck a jetty at the end of Browns River Road. He is being held in.

This has been a tough year as far as fatalities. And with the condition of our inlets, combined with the huge number of inexperienced boaters on the water, we probably have not heard the last of these.

I don't care how good you are, please just assume the vessel near you is being run by a newbie.

Agreed. Not the first and won’t be the last. Keep your head on a swivel.

Horrible, just horrible.
I agree, with Benny, gotta be extra careful nowadays.
I have no idea if this fellow operating the boat has lots or no experience but no good is going to come at 1:30 in the morning on a boat with alcohol involved
Sad for all the families involved

We got called to assist with our dive team, I was at work so I didn't make the call. I know they were on scene for quite some time. Sad indeed πŸ™
