Does anyone use a "terrestrial invertebrate" for striper bait???

Now that I asked that I realize that the Hudson River boys do use night crawlers, so there's a terrestrial invertebrate. Besides earthworms, anybody use things like insects?

night crawlers don't work imho. Bloods or sands due.
