So I have a Shimano Cardiff 400A I'm looking to pair with a rod. I also have a Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod, 6' POWER: Medium ACTION: Med/Fast, BRAID: 65-200lbs with no reel. I was thinking of setting the rod up for sea bass, tog, something to handle off shore, so I would need a reel to pair it with. Does it seem like too much rod for those fish? I'm not great at pairing rods and reels and really don't know where to begin. Thanks in advance for advice on both pieces.

not a fan of shimano products ...I also believe that the rod comes first ...but since you have the reel ..

Daiwa & Phenix make some pretty nice factory rods & also the black hole charter special ..
