Thanks for posting that George. I watched one for a couple years. It was at the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge out in Shirley. It was cool hearing the owls at night when you tuned in. I think it was funded by the Post Morrow Foundation.

There is an Osprey nest in the Peconic with a live cam on it. Ospreyzone.com the returning birds had their first egg today.Ospreyzone.com

Been watching the nest on ospreyzone.com The birds now have 3 eggs. This nest is located on the north shore of the Peconic a little east of the old oyster factory, & gives a good shot of the bay. What's very telling to me is, the Peconic looks empty, as in no boats fluke fishing. Other than that the birds are amazing.

A few years ago at this same nest the birds had three eggs, & the third hatched 4 or 5 days after the other two, by then the first two chicks were bigger & stronger than the runt & pecked at it & wouldn't let it eat. They finally pecked the runt to death, it was a true lesson in nature, but brutal to watch.
