Thoughts on Party Boat fishing and Covid-19.

Are Party Boats going to be able to sail given current restrictions?I think it is to early to say. We are really in uncharted territory, no pun intended, with only a few other events of this magnitude in history. The main issue is that the virus is extremely contagious. 20-30 guys elbow to elbow on my boat isn’t exactly my idea of social distancing. If we can flatten the curve and stomp out the pockets that remain with some sort of meds we may be able to beat this thing and salvage the season. Otherwise if this thing drags out into the summer the industry overall is going to be severally gutted and some operations will not be able to survive. I’m hoping for the best and trying to do what I can to support local mom and pops in my area.

IMO, if the boats had to sail like 1/2 or less to meet the requirements, they probably would be better off staying tied up and applying for small business aid. I'm thinking that would be more profitable...I guess that would depend on the situation what are their expenses for letting the boat sit at the dock verses sailing with a limited crew.

Until further notice, I will forego party boat and charter boat trips. Always wanted to learn how to fly fish. Also good opportunity to go back to my waders and surf bag. Heard bass are already stirring in my neck of the woods. Everyone keep safe and at least a good rod's length away from me. Thnx.

Are Party Boats going to be able to sail given current restrictions?Just read this New York issues a ‘pause’ on nonessential services and gatherings. Here’s what that means.
I would assume this means party boats/charter boats as well? Thoughts?🙁

It looks like they won't have to make that decision as all businesses are shut down. It was clear before that there were challenges ahead. I was told by the NYS press office that the 10 person rule does apply to all fishing boats.
On a good note I can confirm that all seasons will be as last year with the exception of bass and blues. Blues will probably be 3 rec 5 for Hite, Bass 1 between 28-37 with any seasonal or area differations. And there are no plans to stop shore/surf fishing.
Now is a great time to get your tackle ready!

28-37" for bass?
Though NY was going the 28=<35" like the rest of the Northeast until you got to NJ...

I would guess tackle shops will be closed so bait can be a problem.
