OK I have 3 hooks below. One or none are a circle hook. Can you tell? And no googling!

An easy, practical way to discern a Circle Hook is whether or not it's well-nigh impossible to hook a small mackerel in the back with 6/0 size...

None, and Roccus nailed it with that comment. I have a hard time doing a 6/0 on a 6 inch snapper !

None, a circle hook is formed so it won't gut hook a fish. (hangnail facing the shank. ) With enough practice you can get a 9/0 4X in a 10" Whiting or Mack, complete with crimp. 🙂

That fella up there a ways ^^^^^^^^ has seen me do it.

Actually, watching the Maestro converted me to give up trying to put the hook in the bait and switch to the Old Mud Eye Poke Rubber Band Bridle technique...

If the hook point doesn't bend in towards the shank I'm not sure how it can be called a circle hook.

Is it ? Or will clam bellying be required as well...?

No, Mud was referring to his bridle system being used for fishing live macks, whiting, pogies, herring, etc. for BFT. He doesn't bridle dead bait, but uses circle hooks for all his tuna fishing.

It's really genius stuff, can quickly bridle a small mackerel for bass in less than a minute and use a 4/0 hook. To get a 4/0 circle into a live mack's back is pretty challenging at times and takes me much longer...

Gives more leverage to the point. (helps roll it in).

Yes I understand that, a snell knot keeps the line in line wit da shank, but wouldn’t a knot tru the eye do the same; it’s still in line on a pull... cellie...
