My good friend and angler Steve is always trying to talk me into going ice fishing. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'd rather be in Florida this time of year, or just the who auger thing, and those little rods, I just don't get it. I'm not knocking it at all and I know it's very popular, I just don't see myself ever getting into it.

I might consider one of those portable houses with some heat and a bathroom with a hole in the middle of it. But me standing on ice for 6-hours will probably never happen.

Here's Steve with a fish taken on a Westchester reservoir.

Nice Steve,

Mr President I have never done it but when Lake Ronk freezes over Ive seen guys out there doing it. Maybe just maybe we can setup a portable oval office and give it a try someday

Thanks! My local reservoirs starting to freeze good now have about 4 inches, after tomorrow it should be real good, going to to try some jigging this week.

I'll be tucked away here in the oval office - otherwise known as my home office. Make sure you get good video and pics. If your phone doesn't freeze that is πŸ˜‰

Should be ideal conditions up there now.

Hey Steve, are you one of the crazy people I see ice fishing on the reservoir on Route 100 just south of King Kone & Muscoot Tavern on 35?

Nice.
I would like to try ice fishing one day, but I’m a β€œGrumpy Old Man”. I would need one of the shacks on a sled, with pot belly stove, a well stocked bar, and a couple of cute snow bunnies to keep warm with!!

I passed Artist Lake today and was wondering if it was thick enough. I know the deep sections and would love to get out there.

I guess you don't need to carry a cooler with ice to keep your catch of the day fresh.
