On Monday’s trip my gauge never got above 50 degrees but this morning at 52 degrees I began fishing in a real pea soup fog with a positive attitude. Didn’t take long on the start of the flood, as on the first pass I boat a 28.5” slot fish and it was off to the races. Three more fish on the next 3 passes all slot sized to be returned.
Things slowed down a little for the next 20 minutes but as soon as the tide started pushing harder the fish got real aggressive. Spent just under 3 hours and on the second wave of action I was boating fish almost every drift. Total for myself today was 12 Bass with 8 slots, plus 2 under and 2 oversized fish. Largest was a very healthy 34” fish that gave a real good account of himself before being returned to fight another day. All fish today taken on bucktails, my favorite way to fish this area.
A very satisfying start to my eastern waters Bass fishing with many more great trips to come over the next couple of months. If Bass fishing is your thing this is the best time for us on the North Fork, I only have 2 weekend dates left in June if your schedule demands that time frame. More weekdays available, which frankly often produces the better action with less boat traffic. Time to give me a call if this “floats your boat”!!
