We lost our brother in law last November. My nephew is going through mounds of stuff and found this NIB reel he can only surmise was given to his father as a gift. Is this a collectible or just an older iteration of the reel ? I just kayak fish and surfcast, never been on a party boat or charter and probably never will. My sons and nephew don’t fish.

Maybe post a picture. There's a few different variations.
Sorry for your loss. He must have been a pretty good guy is someone gifted him an International.
I don't know if it's going to be particularly valuable or collectible, probably depends on it's age. But I wouldn't take it on a party boat or a charter.

Nice reel.
When I'm trying to dope out the value of something like that I look at eBay "Completed Listings" and look at what actual sales were.
People can ask anything, but sales tell you what people are really willing to pay.
There was only one new one listed which sold for $365.
Used ones varied from $89 for a tired one to $330 for a Cal Sheets modified reel. Realistic numbers for a healthy used reel were probably about $200-$250.
Hope that helps.
