this past year for kayak fishing (fluke and weaks) I tied extra 3/4oz lead minnow head rigs to avoid attaching the lead head with any hardware other than tying it to the end of the leader. IIRC, Lep here uses duolocks or something similar in order to be able to more easily remove a fluke from the net and just unsnap the buck or lead head and put on another. Does anyone feel the presence of that snap on the top of the bucktail (or teaser for that matter) results in less fish taken? (I fish backbay waters from 10' to 20's

I feel it's a problem so I tie a fluorocarbon leader to ALL my lures with a barrel swivel on the rod end which I clip to a quality snap swivel that's tied to the end of my braid (no top shots). I use improved clinch knots for lead head jigs and rubber lures and a Rapala knot for all swimming and popping plugs.

I started tying a loop knot (is that the Rapala knot?) to some of my lead heads this past year but doubt it made a difference. I guess that's just for plugs. I would like to use a snap or duolock instead of my usual improved clinch knot on the jigs but just think it invites more weed and maybe the fish even see it ( ? )

I think Rapala=Loop, it definitely improves plug action. Don't like snaps of any sort on lures, I'm afraid to spook the fish.

I guess I will just make the leaders a little longer so I can replace the jig and re-tie.
