noreaster.com
Meta platform transparency

A narrow publishing workflow—not a data-harvesting product.

noreaster.com is preparing an optional integration that will let fishing contributors prepare a report once, review it, and publish it to the noreaster.com community and an eligible Facebook Page or Instagram professional account they are authorized to manage.

Current status: public policy foundation live; functional Meta connection flow not yet submitted for App Review.

1

Connect

An authorized administrator will choose “Connect Meta” and complete Meta's authorization flow. noreaster.com will never receive the user's Facebook password.

2

Select

The user will select an eligible Facebook Page or connected Instagram professional account they manage.

3

Preview

The user will create or import a fishing report, review the exact text and media, and choose destinations.

4

Publish

noreaster.com will publish only after the user's explicit approval and will record the resulting post status.

Permissions and why they are requested

pages_show_list

Show the user the Facebook Pages they are authorized to manage so they can select a destination.

pages_read_engagement

Read basic Page and resulting post information needed to confirm identity, show status, and avoid duplicate publication.

pages_manage_posts

Publish or manage the fishing report on the specific Page selected by its authorized administrator.

instagram_basic

Identify an eligible Instagram professional account connected to the selected Page.

instagram_content_publish

Publish the user-approved report image and caption to the selected Instagram professional account.

Required implementation safeguards

  • Request only permissions needed for the selected workflow.
  • Show a content preview and destination before publication.
  • Store tokens server-side with restricted access.
  • Let users disconnect and request deletion.
  • Use Meta data only to provide and secure the integration.

What noreaster.com will not do

  • Never post to a personal timeline.
  • Never ask for a Facebook password.
  • Never sell Meta data or transfer it to data brokers.
  • Never scrape Facebook profiles, feeds, or groups through this integration.
  • Never silently add unrelated destinations.
Reviewer access

The public website and policies require no login. Before noreaster.com submits the functional integration for App Review, the private submission will include working reviewer credentials, eligible test assets, exact step-by-step instructions, and a current screen recording that demonstrates every requested permission. Those materials will not be posted publicly because the workflow can publish to real business assets.
